Chiral technologies

Apart from utilizing chirality out of nature's chiral pool, we are well-equipped for the de-novo creation of chiral molecules via asymmetric synthesis and the efficient separation of racemic mixtures to obtain pure enantiomers.

Three main strategies are employed at Saltigo for obtaining chiral molecules from achiral precursors:

  • Asymmetric hydrogenation using transition metal complexes bearing chiral phosphine ligands.
  • Enzymatic reactions employing esterases, lipases, isomerases, etc.
  • Reactions using organocatalysts as chiral templates, such as the Juliá-Colonná epoxidation of unsaturated carbonyl compounds (polyleucine as chiral template)
